What is the ITRA?
The International Technology Rental Association (ITRA) is the world’s largest association dedicated to synergy amongst technology rental companies. Formed in 2002 as the NCRA (National Computer Rental Association), the name was soon changed to the ITRA in 2005 to take into account its growing international memberships.
The ITRA is comprised of companies that rent, install, and support information technology (IT) products such as computers, laptops, iPads, copiers, printers, kiosks, and other office equipment as well as companies who rent audiovisual (AV) equipment such as projectors, sound systems, displays, and lighting, and even vendors that manufacture products used by the IT and AV rental/production member companies. The ITRA now has a membership of over 100 companies worldwide, which range in size from small regional rental offices to multinational firms with thousands of employees.
As a technology rental vendor or manufacturer, there are a variety of reasons to join the ITRA.
Expanded inventory – Some companies benefit most from the expanded inventory that is now at their disposal. For example, if your company needs 500 iPads but only has 200 in stock, you can simply ping the ITRA to work one-on-one with a fellow member who can best augment your inventory.
Expanded reach – Companies who only have equipment and labor available in limited areas can benefit from the expanded geographical reach provided by fellow members. For example, if you have a client that wants to do a conference in New York City but you only have rental products and/or labor available in Chicago, you can use your ITRA membership to find a member that can provide equipment, labor, or both, to the location in which your client needs assistance. This will not only improve your revenue and client retention from the job at hand but can also provide you with additional revenue in the future when other members seek equipment or labor in the locations in which you serve.
Expanded product offerings – As new products come onto the market, some members will be able to add them to their inventory, while some members won’t.
